On 09/29/20 at 8:30am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Martha Malane and Rajani Goudreau arrived at the facility to conduct a pre-licensing inspection. Upon arrival, LPAs met with applicants, Carolina Valencia and Vanessa Valencia and proceeded to tour the facility. Applicant is requesting a capacity of 52; serving School Age children ages 5 – 12 years old. The school age program operates in classrooms #3, #4 and #5. Applicant plans to operate Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

All classrooms were inspected and measured during this inspection and measure:

· Room #3: School Age classroom (5 - 12 years): measured a total of 908.63 square feet


· Room #4: School Age classroom (5 - 12 years): measured a total of 898.31 square feet
· Room #5: School Age classroom (5 - 12 years): measured a total of 897.92 square feet

The total indoor space measures 2704.86 square feet which is sufficient to accommodate 77 children at one time. However, facility is only requesting a capacity of 51. The classrooms are equipped with appropriate furniture, including tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other materials for children. There are two bathrooms which contain 3 toilets, 3 urinals and 4 sinks. The number of toilets, urinals and sinks are sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 51 children. Children are to be escorted and supervised by staff to and from the bathroom and direct visual observation is required. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via moveable water jugs.

There are separate bathrooms for staff located in the school office. The staff bathroom is equipped with one sink and one toilet and is designated for ill children, The office will be used as an isolation area for ill children. There is a functioning carbon monoxide detector in the classrooms and a first aid kit with required supplies. Snacks, breakfast and lunch will be brought from home. Manual sign in and sign out will be implemented. Required documents are posted in the office.

The play yard area was inspected and measures a total of 6,820.37 square feet which is sufficient for 90 children. The play area is fully fenced and includes outdoor play equipment suitable for age groups 5 through 12 years old, there are sufficient woodchips for cushioning and a canopy for shade. Drinking water is readily available in the play area via moveable water jugs. Proper supervision and placement of staff on the playground was advised to ensure supervision and safety of children.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual – Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. A fire clearance for 52 School Age children was granted on 09/03/20.

Prior to licensure the following is needed by 10/5/20:
1) Updated fire clearance is needed due to room addition of classroom #3

An exit interview was conducted and a copy of the report was provided to the applicant. A license may be issued upon a final file review.
