32 | However, the facility is only requesting a capacity of 55 children. The classrooms are equipped with appropriate furniture and napping equipment by the use of cots, including tables, chairs, cubbies, bookshelves, and other materials for the children. There are two restrooms available for the children’s use located in the hallway of the facility containing four sinks, eight toilets and two urinals. There is one sink available for the children’s use located in the Multi-purpose room. The number of toilets and sinks is sufficient to accommodate the requested capacity of 55 children. Children are to be escorted by staff to and from the restroom and active visual observation is required. Drinking water is available in the classrooms via refillable water jugs and disposable cups provided by the facility.
There is a separate staff restroom designated for ill children containing one sink and one toilet and is located in the Library/Game room. Directors/Administration office will be used as an isolation area for ill children. There is a functioning carbon monoxide detector in the facility and a first aid kit with required supplies. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other hazardous substances shall be kept inaccessible. There is a kitchen area that will be used as a food preparation area and includes one sink, two refrigerators, two stoves, food supply, and storage units. The menus are posted in the classrooms. The center will be utilizing manual sign in and sign out. Required documents are posted in the lobby of the facility.
The outdoor playground area was inspected and measures a total of 1,443.67 square feet, which is sufficient to accommodate 19 children. A playground waiver is needed, due to limited outdoor space. The playground is located near the front of the facility on the side of the parking lot. The play area is fully fenced and includes age appropriate outdoor play equipment, a shaded area including tree’s and a movable canopy. During the inspection, LPA observed partial of the rubber matting around the climbing structure to be hard. LPA recommended the rubber matting to be replaced. Drinking water is readily available out in the play area via refillable water jugs and disposable cups. Proper supervision and placement of staff on the playground was advised to ensure the supervision and the safety of children.
