Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with an Assistant Site Director, Steve Kong. The purpose of the inspection was explained to him. There were 25 children with 6 staff present. All adults had fingerprint clearance. The hours of the operation were Monday to Friday from 8AM to 6PM in the regular session; 8:30AM to 5PM in Summer session. LPA inspected the facility with the Assistant director for health and safety hazards. There were two classrooms in this facility, the nursery room for younger children and PK room for older kids. There was one bathroom in each classroom with two toilets and two sinks. Facility met teacher/child ratio today. All children had their own individual cubby and hook to store their personal belongings. Facility was adequately furnished with age appropriate toys, furniture, equipment, First Aid supplies, and napping equipment. School provided mats for children for napping and parents have brought the sleeping bags in and taken them home to wash every month or when it was needed. Sick children will be separated from the group and place to the office while waiting for their parents to pick up. All children were in the half day program. The older children brought their own snack and lunch to the facility The younger children do not eat lunch at school. Most children were in the half day program, so they do not eat lunch at school. Some children brought their own lunch if they stay longer hours. There was an outdoor space available for children on site. The outdoor play area was completely fenced. There were some play structures, sand box, play house, garden and some other outdoor activity equipment available for children; The facility used tan bark as cushioning underneath of all the play structures. Drinking Water was available for children outdoor and indoor. Per licensee, there were couple of children on special medication. LPA inspected the staorage of the medication during in the inspection. At least one staff had current CPR/First Aid training certificate available for review during the inspection. The facility has conducted the Fire and Earthquake drill monthly and logged. LPA reviewed the staff and children files during the inspection. LPA obtained a copy of the current children roster from the licensee during the inspection. All the required postings were posted.
