Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Farhan Bashir-Tariq conducted an Annual/Random inspection on 7/26/19 and met with the staff Norma Devlin (S1). Purpose of the inspection was explained. This is a Preschool program, which operates in Room #3 and Room #4. The hours of operation are M-F, 7:30AM-5:30PM. Present there were 35 children with 6 teachers. Facility is operating within the capacity and ratio limits as of today 7/26/19.

LPA and S1 inspected the facility indoors and outdoors for Health and Safety Hazards. Classrooms have age appropriate toys and equipment, which are maintained in good condition. Cubbies and hooks inside each classroom are used to store children’s belongings. Napping equipment is properly stored in each classroom. Restrooms are kept clean, in good repair, and with adequate supplies. Staff restroom is maintained off limits to children. Facility has a fully supplied Emergency Kit and Emergency supplies, which are maintained inaccessible to children. Discipline policy is mainly redirection. Outdoor play area is completely fenced and maintained free of debris and hazardous items. All outdoor toys and equipment are age appropriate and in good repair. Sandbox is covered daily and also checked for debris. Water fountains are available outside in the play yard for children to drink water. All mandatory postings are properly posted near the classrooms and near the main office. Sign in/out sheets were reviewed and are complete.

LPA reminded the facility to conduct the fire or emergency drills at least once every six months and drills must be logged. Facility has log for each drill being conducted. Per facility’s log, last drill was conducted on April 2, 2019.

There are no pools, spas or other bodies of water at the facility. Facility has multiple smoke detectors, a fully charged fire extinguisher and a working telephone at the site. All of the cleaning solutions, poisons and other chemicals that are dangerous to the children are stored inaccessible to the children. Facility has age appropriate furniture. Furniture is steady and in good repair. Facility floor is in good repair and free of any hazards. All of the play structures are steady, in good repair and free of any loose parts. There is sufficient amount of soft cushioning under the play structures to prevent any fall injuries.
LPA reviewed the facility records. LPA reviewed 8 random children's and 4 staff's files. LPA observed facility has record of names, addresses and telephone numbers of each child's authorized representative. Each child's record contains the record immunization. Multiple staff members have record of valid CPR card in file.
LPA reminded the facility that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a child care facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles.
LPA reminded the facility, as of January 1, 2018, all staff is required to complete Mandated Reporter Training every two years. The training can be obtained online at www.mandatedreporterca.com.
LPA encouraged the facility to frequently visit our website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations and new updates. Facility can also email at childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov and ask to be added to the email list for the updates.

This report and rights to comment and appeal were discussed with the Principal, D'Andrea Robinson. This report must be available in the facility for public review. Notice of site visit shall be posted for 30 days from today's visit.
