25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Van met with the lead teacher, Audrey Reed, for an unannounced annual random inspection. The current Director of the site is Ellen Dizon. The purpose of the inspection was explained and granted entry to the facility by the teacher. This facility is a preschool program and operates at the ground level on the right side of the Grace United Methodist Church. Days and hours operations are Monday - Friday 7:00 am-6:00 pm. Present today are 3 teachers, the Director, and 2 TAs supervising 39 children. Staff to children ratio are met. Per the lead teacher, sick children will be separated from the group and will be waited in the cot storage area for parents to pick up.
LPA, along with the lead teacher, inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility is in good repair and free of any hazards with proper temperature and ventilation. A variety of age-appropriate toys and learning materials for children are available in the classroom. There are no pools, spas, or other bodies of water at the facility. The facility has a smoke detector, fully charged fire extinguishers, and a working telephone at the facility. LPA observed all cleaning solutions, poisons, and other chemicals that are dangerous stored in the kitchen and are inaccessible to children. Per the lead teacher, the center provides two snacks and lunch for children, and the children's foods are catered from the Three Stars Restaurant. All the bathrooms, toilets, and sinks are clean and well sanitized. There are a total of 3 toilets, 3 sinks, and a urinal in the facility. There is a separate bathroom available for staff inside the Church. The facility has water fountains readily available for children to use outdoor and water pitchers indoor. The outside play area is completely fenced, clean, and in good repair. The playground is free of hazardous materials, and the play equipment is age-appropriate and safe. Climbing structures are securely anchored, free of any loose parts, and have sufficient amounts of cushioning floor to prevent any fall injuries. Per the lead teacher, sandboxes are inspected daily. LPA did not observe any bodies of water in the outdoor area. |
