25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Van met with Lead teacher, Daisy Chan for an unannounced annual random inspection. Director/Principal, Ivy Ng is on vacation. The purpose of the inspection was explained. This is a school-age program. Facility operates in the SFUSD Noriega Early Education School in rooms #4, #7, #9, #10. Days and hours of operations in the morning program are: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM -9:30 AM and after school program are 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM. During recess periods and summer, the operations hours are Monday – Friday 8 AM – 6 PM. Present today are 48 children with 6 teachers. Staff to children ratio are met.
Along with Lead teacher, LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility is in good repair and free of any hazards with proper temperature and ventilation. Variety of age appropriate toys and learning materials for children are available in the classroom. There are no pools, spas or other bodies of water at the facility. Facility has smoke detector, carbon monoxide detectors, fully charged fire extinguisher and a working telephone in each classroom. All cleaning solutions, poisons and other chemicals that are dangerous stored inaccessible to children. Sick children will be separated from the group and will be waited in the office for parents to pick up. LPA observed unused electrical outlets have covers installed. All the bathrooms, toilets and sinks are clean and well sanitized. All solid waste bins have proper tight fitted lid on top. Facility has water bottles and water fountains readily available for children. Outdoor playground area is in good repair, and play structures are free of any loose parts.
In today’s inspection, LPA reviewed staff and children records, Care and Supervision of the Children, Child Discipline Procedures, Medication Policies, Isolation of Sick Children, and Reporting Requirements. LPA observed that facility has an electronic sign in / out record for parent or authorized representative. All staff have criminal record clearance through the SFUSD. All staff have record of valid Pediatric FirstAid/CPR card in file. Staff have the required immunization, and verification of the mandated child abuse reporting training as compliant with AB1207. LPA also observed facility has posted the required forms (i.e. License, waivers, Notification of Parent's Rights, Notification of Personal Rights, and Emergency Disaster Plan). Lead teacher stated Fire and Earthquake drills are done each month, the last fire drill was conducted on 11/2/19 and earthquake drill was conducted on 9/20/19. |
