25 | On 4/26/2023 at 12:25PM., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Luis J. Gomez met with Administrator, Patricia Santana. Purpose of inspection was explained and was for an Unannounced, Annual Random inspection. Facility is licensed to operate preschool-age, at Bryant Elementary. Present was principal and 6 staff supervising 34 children. Children present had been properly signed in. Classroom personnel receive criminal record clearances though school district. Preschool program utilizes three classrooms: Room #1, #2, and #3 and one, shared, Garden Area and Outdoor Play Yard (Potrero del Sol Park). Outdoor space waiver was observed posted. Principal, Laura Codicetti arrived during inspection. Program operates year around. LPA inspected facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards.
At 12:35PM., LPA observed the following: Classrooms were clean, orderly, with age-appropriate playthings available for the children. Ground surfaces were free of any obstructions or potential hazards. Classrooms were equipped with labelled cubbies for storage of children's belongings. Furniture, art supplies, and puzzles inspected were free of sharp corners or splinters. Classrooms have child- sized tables and chairs for snack and seated activities. Children’s bathrooms, located in classroom and hallway (Shared) were maintained clean. Changing table is located in classroom #2. Fixtures tested were in operating condition. Staff bathroom is located separate. For napping services, LPA observed stackable cots stored in each classroom. Cots inspected were made of cleanable material. Per director, sheets are washed weekly. Classrooms had acceptable ventilation and lighting. The disinfectants and poisons have been stored inaccessible to children. Outlets and trash bins have been covered. Classrooms have functioning smoke/ carbon monoxide combination detector, telephone service, and fully charged fire extinguishers: 3A:40BC located in hallway. First aid kit was reviewed and is fully stocked.
At 1:10PM, LPA inspected the shared garden and outdoor play area. Garden was completely enclosed with tall fencing. Shading resting area is available. LPA reminded principal to ensure all debris, hazardous plants and broken items are removed from outdoor play area. Advisory Note: Technical Violation (LIC9102TV) was issued.
At 1:15PM., Based on observation and interview, LPA confirmed outdoor structure (Potrero del Sol park) is under construction. Per Principal, it will not be used by preschool program for a couple of weeks. Advisory Note: Technical Violation (LIC9102TV) was issued.
LPA inspected kitchen/ food storage area during inspection. Area was clean, free of any trash or rubbish.
