25 | On January 10, 2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Garcia conducted an unannounced, case management inspection for the Action Level Exceedance (ALE) of Lead in Child Care Center's water. LPA met with Associate Vice Chancellor, Alberto Vasquez. LPA explained the purpose of the visit and was given a tour of the facility.
There were no children or teachers present in the facility due winter closure.
LPA discussed the new Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018 requires the Lead Testing of water in the Child Care Center with the site director during the inspection. All Child Care Centers that are located in buildings constructed before January 1, 2010, must have their water tested and post the results by January 1, 2023, and every 5 years after the date of the first testing.
The facility received the ALE report from the Vendor on October 3, 2024. Test results for this facility that exceeded a higher level of parts per billion (ppb) allowed, 5.5 ppb. The facility was proactive in getting facility faucets tested and putting signs indicating that the water fountain/fixture is not for drinking and or currently out of order. LPA observed, the affected fixtures F (90) is a children's bathroom sink with a spigot in classroom 108. Fixture Q (5.5) is a children's sink in room 101 toddler classroom. Based on record review from the lead water database and from facility staff, the facility retested the affected fixtures on 12/18/2024. The new test results show fixture F (2.5) and for Q (9.7). The LPA observed that faucet have 'Out of Order' signs on them with tape. Staff turned on the faucets to verify that they've been shut off. The water currently runs in the fixtures. Per Alberto, the faucets are currently being flushed for retest for the next 3 weeks for the remaining affected fixture.
