LPA observed there were 5 toilets and 3 sinks for preschoolers. LPA observed bathrooms are sanitary, in working condition, and the water temperature was proper. The facility has enough sleep cots/mats for children and each child has individual sheets and blankets. According to the director, the facility provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks in addition to milk.
LPA observed a filtered pitcher available for children to drink water in the playground as well as in the classrooms. LPA inspected the kitchen and found it clean, sanitary, and there was no cross contamination observed.
LPA observed outdoor play area and play structures are free from health and safety hazards, with no sharp edges, no broken or cracked parts on the structures and the playground, and no tripping hazard was observed. There are a variety of play and sports equipment available for children on the playground. There are also sheds/bins and storage areas for the toys when they're not being used.
The LPA reviewed the facility’s records, 5 random children files, and 5 staff files. All required papers/forms were available in the children’s folder, including Immunization records, LIC 700, and parent's rights. LPA reviewed the qualification requirements of the staff, CPR, and Mandated Reporter Training and, LPA observed the completion certificates on file.
LPA also confirmed staff’s criminal record clearance on the Guardian website during the visit. There were 6 staff present whose criminal record clearance needed to be transferred to the facility and LPA provided information and advised the director to complete the transfer process.
The director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Childcare Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
