25 | Licensing Program Analyst(LPA) Van met with the lead teacher, Teri Cummings, for an unannounced annual random inspection and in collaboration with the complaint inspection. The purpose of the inspection was explained to the teacher. This facility is a preschool program and operates in the SFUSD – Theresa S. Mahler Early Education School. Days and hours operations are Monday - Friday 7:30 am-5:30 pm in rooms 1,2, and 3. Present today are 7 teachers supervising 32 children. Staff to children ratio are met.
LPA, along with the lead teacher, inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility is in good repair and free of any hazards with proper temperature and ventilation. A variety of age-appropriate toys and learning materials for children are available in the classroom. There are no pools, spas, or other bodies of water at the facility. The facility has a smoke detector, carbon monoxide detectors, and a fully charged fire extinguishers in each classroom. All cleaning solutions, poisons, and other chemicals that are dangerous stored inaccessible to children. Sick children will be separated from the group and will be waited in the Director’s office for parents to pick up. LPA observed the unused electrical outlets have covers and installed. All the bathrooms, toilets, and sinks are clean and well sanitized. There is a total of 8 toilets and 6 sinks in the facility, and a separate staff bathroom is available on site. All solid waste bins have a proper tight-fitted lid on top, and the facility has water fountains readily available for children to use indoor and outdoor. The outside play area is completely fenced, clean, and in good repair. The playground is free of hazardous materials, and the play equipment is age-appropriate and safe. Climbing structures are securely anchored, free of any loose parts, and have sufficient amounts of cushioning floor to prevent any fall injuries. There are no bodies of water, and shade is provided for children. |
