25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the Site Director, Kumiko Inui. The purpose of the inspection was explained to her. There were 23 children with 4 staff upon arrival. All staff had fingerprint clearance. The facility was location in the building with 2 child care centers (ABC Preschool and Kai Ming Head Start - Richmond). The facility was located on the ground level with an adjacent outdoor play area in the courtyard. The facility's operation hours were Monday to Friday from 9AM to 5PM. The preschool program was run in classroom A (Sakura)-it is a big room next to the kitchen area, B (Momogumi) - it was across from the main office, and C (Tampopo) - this room was a small room in the back of the building. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility was clean and in order. Temperature and lighting were adequate. All the toxins and harmful objects were either locked or made inaccessible to the children. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning material, and children's furniture available for the children. All the items for the children were in good condition and repaired. The facility also install a plastic divider to prevent COVID19 on each children's table. The facility has required the children wearing face masks to prevent COVID19 during the school hours except eating and napping time. The facility also has required each child having a second pair of shoes for indoor use to prevent COVID19. There were 2 mid-size tanks for fishes and a turtle with tide lids available for children in Momogumi classroom. All electrical outlets were covered. All sharp corners were covered. First aid supplies were available in each classroom. All the lower cabinets in each classroom were either latched or free of harmful objects. There were no guns and weapons in the facility. Cots were used for napping. Per Site Director, the facility has provided AM/PM snacks to the children only. The children have brought their own lunch and water cups to school daily. The facility has provided filter drinking water in water pitcher with paper cups to children if needed. The facility has prepared the snacks in the kitchen that next to the Sakura classroom. LPA inspected the place for health and safety hazards. There were the food waste baskets with tide lid. The outdoor play area was completely fenced. The play yard was clean and in order. The facility was granted a waiver to share the play ground with another Child care facility (Kai Ming Head Start) on the upper level by Child Care Licensing. The facilities have shared the playground with schedule. There were plenty of age-appropriate outdoor toys, ride-on-toys, and other toys available for children. The facility installed a gate at the stairway in play yard. There were 2 children bathrooms with 3 toilets, 1 urinal, and 2 sinks available for children. Per Site director, there was a child on special medication. LPA inspected the medication and document during the inspection. The facility has conducted the emergency drill at least 2 times a year and logged. LPA inspected the sign in/out sheet during the inspection. LPA reviewed the staff and children files during the inspection. LPA also obtained a copy of the current children's roster and Personnel report from the licensee during the inspection. All required postings were posted. All staff had current CPR/First Aid training and Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training for review.
