25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced required annual inspection today. LPA met with the head Teacher, Mabel Young. The purpose of the inspection was explained to her. Per the senior Clark, Michelle Lee, the Site Director, Carolyne Cook ,was not available because she worked from home during the inspection. There were 27 children with 5 teachers present. The facility’s Regular Operation hours are Monday to Friday from 07:45 AM to 05:45 PM. However, the facility had new operation hours during COVID 19 Pandemic are Monday to Friday from 8;30am to 4 PM. The Facility was a combination center with preschool, infant/toddler, and after-school license programs. All staff have fingerprint clearance through the San Francisco United School District. The preschool program runs in classrooms 5,6, 7,8, 9, and the multipurpose room. Room # 6 was connected to room # 7 and room #8 was connected to room # 9. Per Mable, the facility uses rooms # 7 and #8 during Summer this year. The rest of the rooms were closed. LPA toured and inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility was clean and in order. Temperature and lighting were adequate in each classroom. All toxins and harmful objects were locked or made inaccessible to children in each classroom. Classrooms had age-appropriate toys and equipment that were in good repair. There was a separate bathroom available for staff. The children’s bathrooms with toilets and sinks available in each room_. The bathrooms were maintained clean, in good repair, and with adequate supplies. The facility had a wastebasket with tight-fitting covers for the solid waste and was in good repair. Cleaning products and Toxins were maintained inaccessible to children. Medications were store properly in each classroom and made inaccessible to children in care. There were 2 children on special medication. LPA reviewed the required form for the medication during the inspection. The isolation area was in the office with the use of the staff bathroom if needed. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning material and equipment, and children’s furniture available for children in care and good repair. Drinking water was available in each classroom. Each child had his water bottle with his name. A water fountain was available in each classroom. All the lower cabinets were either locked or free of harmful objects in each classroom. Cots were used for napping in each classroom. Parents take the blankets home to wash every Friday and then bring the blankets back the following school day. Sick children will be separated from the group and kept in the front office area while waiting for their parents to pick them up. The facility provides Breakfast, Lunch, and PM snacks to the children. All the food is delivered by the School district daily. The onsite kitchen was inspected. It was clean and free of harmful objects. The lunch menu was posted in each classroom. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced. The Outdoor yard was clean and free of hazards. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, ride-on-toys, wooden blocks, and play structures with soft cushioning underneath. The areas around high climbing equipment, swings, and slides had soft cushioning material underneath to absorb falls. The preschool program had an inclusion component in conjunction with the Special Education preschool program through the School District. Special Education preschool children work on their social and motor skills. There were no children in the Special Ed program in the Summer this year. First Aid Kit and Emergency supplies were available stored in each classroom and made inaccessible to children. At least one staff had a current CPR/First Aid training certificate available for review during the inspection. Some of the Children and staff files were reviewed during the inspection. LPA also obtained a copy of the current children roster during the inspection. Some staff had completed the Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training (AB1207). The certificates were reviewed during the inspection. The facility had hand sanitizer, Thermometer, and disinfectant available in the daycare area to prevent COVID19. All required postings were posted.
