Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the licensee, Jamie Huang and 2 helpers, and explained the purpose of the inspection to them. All adults had fingerprint clearance. The licensee was not at the daycare upon LPA's arrival. Per helpers, the licensee went out to run her errand and came back to the facility within 30 minutes. There were 11 children that included an infant with 2 helpers present upon LPA's arrival. Licensee rents this 2 stories single family house. Licensee lived in the house with her brother. The operation hours of the daycare were Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm. The day care areas were the entire downstairs (2 playrooms, kitchen, bathroom), and the backyard. The off limit areas were the entire upstairs and the garage. LPA toured and inspected the facility for health and safety. The facility was clean and in order. The lighting and temperature were adequate. All toxins and harmful objects were locked and made inaccessible to children. There were plenty of age appropriate toys, children's books, craft material, furniture, and children’s furniture available for children in the day care. There was a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, working telephone, working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors & First aid supplies were available. Cots were used for napping. All sharp corners and electrical outlets were covered. Per licensee, there was no weapons, no guns, and no pets in the house. Licensee has provided breakfast, lunch, AM/PM snacks & dinner to day care children. Per licensee, fire drill was conducted at least once every month. The latest one was conducted in 3/2023 . Gate was installed at the kitchen entrance to prevent children access to the off-limit area. The outdoor area was completely fenced. Soft cushioning was installed to the ground to prevent injury. There were plenty of age appropriate outdoor toys, playhouse, & slide with soft cushioning underneath available for children in care. Licensee's and helper's pediatric CPR and first aid training were current; it will expire in 3/2024 . Per licensee, there were no children on special medication. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417.
