On 1/26/2022 at 8:50 A.M., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Kaur met with Principal, Paul Lister. Purpose of the inspection was explained and was for an unannounced Annual/ Random inspection. Preschool program operates in classrooms: #102 and utilizes one outdoor play yard. Hours of operation are Monday- Friday 8:20 am - 3 40 pm. Classroom #102 follows the SFUSD, yearly calendar. All children present had been properly signed-in. Staff receive their criminal record clearance through the school district. LPA inspected facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards.

At 9:00 A.M., LPA observed the following: Classrooms were clean and orderly with a variety of age-appropriate books, blocks and supplies for the children. All floors and surfaces were free of obstructions. Classrooms had labelled cubbies for storage of each child’s belongings. Manipulative and supplies used for instruction were free of sharp edges or splinters. Classrooms had several wooden child sized tables and chairs for snack and activities. All fixtures, located in children's bathrooms, were in proper operating condition. Bathrooms had adequate supplies for the children. The staff restroom are located separately. For napping services, program provides cleanable napping cots, which are assigned to each child. Per Teacher, children's napping supplies are taken home weekly to be washed. Classrooms had acceptable ventilation and lighting. Detergents, cleaning supplies and toxins are stored inaccessible to children. Classrooms have functioning smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguishers (2A:60BC) located in the classroom. First aid kit was fully stocked. Last fire drill was conducted on December, 2021.

LPA inspected the outdoor play area. Outdoor play area was enclosed. Space was observed free of debris or hazardous plants or objects. Playthings inspected were in good repair and play structure had been properly anchored. Water services are provided for day-care children using accessible fountains. (REFER TO 809-C FOR CONT.)

Facility provides Incidental Medical Services (IMS) to the children. A review of storage of medication, equipment and supplies are adequately stored and logged. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. Facility was also informed that as of September 1, 2016, a person may not be employed or volunteer at a child care facility unless he or she has been immunized against influenza, pertussis, and measles or qualifies for an exemption pursuant to Health and Safety code 1596.7995 and 1597.662.

LPA discussed Child Abuse Mandated Training AB1207 with the Director. As of January 1, 2018 all staff will be required to complete Mandated Reporter Training every two years. The training can be obtained online at www.mandatedreporterca.com.

Pesticide regulations were discussed with the Director. In accordance with the Healthy Schools Act, California law requires that anyone using any pesticide must be trained every year in integrated pest management and the safe use of pesticides around children. The director was advised that a free one hour online course is available on the Department of Pesticide Regulation's Web site: www.cdpr.ca.gov/schoolipm/training. No deficiencies were observed in today's inspection. The report was reviewed and signed by the principal, Paul Lister. Today's report, 1/26/2022, and notice of site visit will be sent to the principals email at LISTERP@SFUSD.EDU by the close of business on 1/26/2022. Confirmation of receipt is required, and a notice of site visit must remain posted for 30 days.
