Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection. LPA met with the Center Manager, Yanina Escalante (Nina), and explained the purpose of the inspection to her. There were 25 children with 8 staff present. The facility operation hours are Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. The facility uses electronic sign in/out system. The waiver of the electronic Sign in/out was granted. This facility is a combination center with Preschool and Infant with toddler option programs. The infant program with toddler option is run in rooms #1 to # 4. Room # 3 and #4 are used for Toddler's program. Room #1 and #2 are used for Infant's program. LPA toured and inspected the facility for health and safety hazard. The facility was clean and in order. All toxins and harmful objects were made inaccessible to children. There were plenty of age appropriate toys, books, learning material and children's furniture available in each classroom. Furniture and equipment were age appropriate and in good repair. All electrical outlets were covered. There was adequate heating, lighting and ventilation. Cubbies with children's name and pictures were available for children to store their belongings in each classroom. Mats and cribs with children's names were used for napping. Napping room for infants was inspected during the inspection. Drinking water was readily available and served with cups in each classroom. The Children's bathroom are located between Classroom #1 and # 4, and #2 and #3. The bathrooms are shared with the children between #1 & 4, and #2 & #3. Toilets and sinks were reachable by children. There were 2 changing tables available in each bathroom. Toilet paper, soap and towels were available in each bathroom. There are separate toilet and sinks available for staff in the center. Facility provides Breakfast, lunch, and AM/PM snacks to the children. There was a food prep kitchen between room #1 & #4, and #2 & #3. Each kitchen had its own refrigerator. The food preparation area was inspected. The food is prepared and delivered by Chefables to the center daily. A kitchen across the Family Advocate office is used as the food preparation area. The kitchen was inspected during the inspection. The kitchen was clean and in order. All trash cans had tide lid in the kitchen. Facility provides formula to the children who are under 1 year old. Also, Parents might bring the breast milk in bottle with child's name label to the center if necessary. Food Menu was posted outside by the classroom entrance. The facility has an outdoor play area adjacent to each classroom. The outdoor play areas were completely fenced. The facility also has the fenced common play area (Garden area - that is next to the rail) that is shared by Preschool and Toddler with schedule. The waiver of outdoor playground was granted. There were some outdoor toys, play structure, and ride-on toys available to children in each play area. All the toys were in good condition. Soft rubber matting was available for children in each play area. First aid supplies were available in each classroom. Medication was stored in lock backpack and made inaccessible to children in each classroom. There were Earthquake emergency items available in each room. There was a pulldown fire alarm system installed in each room. At least one staff had current CPR/First aid training in the center. Disaster drill was conducted monthly and logged. There were couple of childen on special medication. All staff had completed the Mandated Reporter Training. The certificates were reviewed during the inspection. All staff had met the staff immunization requirement. Sign in/out information, children records & staff records, and 15 minutes nap log were reviewed during the inspection. LPA obtained a copy of the children roster from facility during the inspection. All required postings were posted.
