25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the Site Director, and Assistant Site Director, Patricia Cotter. The purpose of the inspection was explained to them. There were 60 children with 11 staff present. All adults had fingerprint clearance. LPA observed parents with children in the classroom upon arrival. Per Site Director, the parents showed up with their children because it was the first day of school. The facility's operation hours were Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4 PM. The facility has provided after-school care for Pre-K on Wednesday only until 4:15 PM. Per Assistant Site Director, The hours for Tuesday and Thursday (2.5 years old and up) was 9 AM to 1 PM, and 9AM to 1:30 PM for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday classes (3.5 years old and up). The hours for Pre-K were 8:30 AM to 2 PM. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility ran the preschool program in two separate buildings (#1805 and #1806) that were connected with a play yard. All children entered the facility from the entrance at #1806. Each building had its bathroom, art room, gross motor room, kitchen, and staff area. The facility was clean and in order. All toxins and harmful objects were made inaccessible to the children. The temperature and lighting were adequate. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, and art & craft materials, learning equipment, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repaired available for children. Children have brought their meals to school. The facility has provided snacks to children only. The snack menu was posted in the building. Drinking water was served in water pitchers with paper cups in each classroom. First Aid supplies were available in each building. The facility had a total of adjacent children's bathrooms in each classroom. There was a total of 6 toilets, 1 urinal, 4 regular sinks, and 3 big sinks with 9 faucets available for children indoors. The staff's bathroom was available in each building. This facility was equipped with a fire sprinkler system and pull-down fire alarm in each building. The outdoor play yards were completely fenced. There were two play structures with slides with soft cushioning underneath Outdoor toys and sandboxes were available outdoors as well. Per Site Director, there were some children on special medication. LPA inspected the storage of the medication and documents. The facility has conducted the emergency drill at least 2 times a year and logged it. LPA reviewed the Sign in/out sheets during the inspection. The facility posted all required postings in both buildings. LPA reviewed the staff and children's files during the inspection. LPA also obtained a copy of the current children's roster from the facility. Most of the staff had current CPR/First Training. All staff had current Mandated Reporter Training.
