Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced increased inspection today. LPA met with the Site Director, Sandra Davis. The purpose of the inspection was explained to her. There were 13 children with 3 staff present. The facility operation hours are Monday to Friday from 7am to 5:30pm. The facility is located behind the apartment complex. The original main entrance from the Sunnydale street is nearby the building office. However, the building is having the construction that moves the daycare entrance to the other side of the building temporarily. Per Sandra, the main entrance from the street (Sunnydale Avenue) is nearby the drive way area on the right side of the apartment complex. Per Sandra, the construction may last for couple of months. Facility met teacher/child ratio during inspection. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazard. The facility was clean and in order. The temperature and lighting were adequate. All toxins and harmful objects were stored and inaccessible to day care children. There was a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher available in the center. There was a one big classroom with an adjacent play yard that was completely fenced in front of the building. There were plenty of age appropriate toys, books, learning material, art and craft material, sand table, water table, and children furniture available indoor. All furniture and equipment were in good condition and repair. There was a fish tank with lid that was placed on the top of the counter by the Science Center. There was a Children's bathroom with 2 sinks and 2 toilets. Toilets and sinks were reachable by children. There was a garbage bin with lid in the bathroom. There was an extra sink available next to a changing table that was located in the bathroom as well. First aid supplies were available in the classroom. The facility installed a commercial pull down alarm system. At least one staff had current CPR/First Aid training; it will expire in 3/2021. Cots were available for napping. The cots were stored in the staff's room. Drinking water was served in water pitcher with cups in the classroom. Facility provides snacks, breakfast, and lunch to children. The food is delivered by Chefable to the center daily. Facility warms up the food at the kitchen before they serve to the children. LPA inspected the kitchen that was barricade with a door in the classroom. The kitchen was clean and in order. Garbage can with tide lid in the kitchen. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced. There was a play structure with slide had soft rubber cushioning underneath to prevent injury. There were plenty of age appropriate outdoor toys, trikes, and carts available for children in play yard as well. Water fountains were available for children at the play yard. Per site Director, Fire drill/ emergency drill have been conducted every 6 months. Per site director, there was a child on special medication. LPA reviewed the child’s file during inspection. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services - IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children's, personnel, and administrative record. All required postings were posted. Sign in/out sheets were reviewed during inspection. Children and staff files were reviewed during inspection. Children roster was reviewed and a copy of it was obtained by LPA during inspection. Staff had required vaccinations.
