LPA observed that the eleven classrooms had age-appropriate toys, furniture, and educational materials. A fish tank was in the lobby and was secured with a tight-fitting cover. The facility also included designated storage areas for each child, labeled with their names. Electrical outlets were fitted with child safety covers to prevent children's access. The facility was equipped with three diaper-changing tables. The bathrooms were clean, fully operational, and equipped with suitable toileting equipment and sanitation products.
The two outdoor playgrounds had fences at least four feet tall. The play equipment is in good condition and does not have sharp, loose, or pointed parts. There are no pools, spas, or bodies of water on the property.
The director stated that the facility currently does not provide lunch for the children but that families provide lunches for their children. The director stated that two children had allergies. The child's prescribed medications were inside a backpack in one of the classrooms, which included the child’s and doctors' information. The prescribed medications were found to be current and in their original packaging.
The facility offers mats for children to rest or nap. LPA observed that blankets were available for each child. The families provide blankets for their children, which are washed every Friday.
LPA reviewed the files of five children and confirmed that all had complete records. The children's files contain records of emergency identification information and necessary immunizations.
LPA reviewed the files of five staff members and confirmed that four had complete records. LPA verified that one of the staff members had a current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certificate. The facility is only required to have one staff member present on-site with a current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certificate. One staff, S1, was missing her MMR vaccination record, therefore a technical violation was issued to the facility.
During a review of the staff transcripts, LPA found that three staff members had completed twelve units in Early Childhood Education (ECE), which qualifies them to serve as teachers. The fourth was a specialist, and the fifth was an aide with six ECE units.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.
