25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with an interim Site Director, Sarah Fong, and Regional Manager, Ellen Peterson-Allen, and explained the purpose of the inspection to them. There were 19 preschoolers with 4 staff and 16 toddlers with 7 staff present during the inspection. The interim Site Director stated the total enrollment for both programs was 36. The Facility met the teacher/child ratio today. Indoor and outdoor areas were inspected today for health and safety hazards. No apparent hazards were observed. Per the interim Site Director, the outdoor play yard will be renovated starting this week until December. The facility will take the preschoolers to the Fulton Playground (27th Avenue & Fulton), and toddlers to the Rochambeau Playground (25th Ave. & California) until the renovation is completed in December. The facility has two big classrooms for 2 separate programs (Preschool and toddler). One of the classrooms was used for preschool. It's called "FD1". Another classroom was used for the Toddler program, it was separated into 2 sections (FD2A & FD2B) by the shelves, partition, and a gate. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The lighting and temperature were adequate. The center was clean and in order. The facility made the toxins and harmful objects inaccessible to the children. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials & equipment, sand tables, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repair in each classroom. Each classroom had an adjacent bathroom with 2 toilets and 2 sinks available in each classroom. Children's toilets and sinks were appropriate in size and height for children. All electrical outlets were covered. Separated staff bathrooms were available for staff on site. Each child had a cubby to store their belongings. The facility provided breakfast, Lunch, and PM snacks from Chefables daily. A monthly menu was posted in each classroom. The food preparation area was inspected All food waste bins had the tide lids. Milk was kept in the refrigerator and inspected during the inspection. Drinking water was served in water pitchers with cups in each classroom. First aid supplies were available for children in each classroom. Cots were available for napping with a cover to protect their bedding in each classroom. Parents took blankets home to wash every other Friday. Sick children will be separated from the group and placed in the teacher's lounge while waiting for their parents to pick up. The facility had its outdoor play yard in the back of the property. The yard was completely fenced. The play yard was shared by 2 separate programs with schedules. CCL granted an Outdoor Rotation waiver to the facility. All play structures in the play area had rubberized cushioning underneath. There were plenty of age-appropriate outdoor toys, a see-saw, a playhouse, water tables, and a sandbox available for children. Fire and Earthquake drills have been done every month and were properly logged. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed the storage of medication and equipment/supplies and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. LPA reviewed Children and staff records and obtained a copy of the children's roster during the inspection. LPA inspected Sign/Out documents during the inspection. At least one staff had current CPR/First Aid training in the center.
