Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Farhan Bashir-Tariq met with the Lead Teacher, Oscar Harper (S1) to conduct an Annual Inspection on 7/10/19. Purpose of the inspection was explained. Present, there are 18 preschool children with 4 teachers. Facility is operating within the capacity and ratio limits as of today 7/10/19. Facility operates day care from Monday to Friday between 7:30 AM to 6 PM. Facility provides 2 snacks. Menu for the snacks is posted.
LPA inspected the day care areas with S1. There are no pools, spas or other bodies of water at the facility. Facility has a smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector, a fully charged fire extinguisher and a working telephone at the site. All of the cleaning solutions, poisons and other chemicals that are dangerous to the children are stored inaccessible to the children in the cabinet below the kitchen area sink. Facility has age appropriate furniture. Furniture is steady and in good repair. All toilets, hand washing facilities are in working condition with proper sanitation in place. All the materials and surface accessible to the children is clean and toxic free. Play yard is free of hazards. All of the play structures are steady, in good repair and free of any loose parts. There is sufficient amount of wood chunks under the play structures to prevent any fall injuries. Outdoor space is completely fenced off. Cubbies are used to store children's belongings.
LPA reviewed the facility records. LPA reviewed 8 random children's and all present staff's files. LPA observed facility has record of names, addresses and telephone numbers of each child's authorized representative. Each child's record contains the record immunization. Multiple staff members have record of valid CPR card in file. LPA reviewed the educational qualification of all the teachers. Facility has log for emergency drills being conducted. Per log, last emergency drill was conducted on November 1, 2018.

Facility must conduct the disaster drill once every six months and log the drill. This log shall be available at the facility to be reviewed by the Department during the inspection. Facility should conduct a drill by 7/24/19 and email the copy of the log to LPA.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed, For IMS information, see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. LPA reminds the facility that As of January 1, 2018, all staff is required to complete Mandated Reporter Training every two years. The training can be obtained online at www.mandatedreporterca.com. Facility staff have completed the training. LPA observed the completion certificates in the facility records.
