LPA observed outdoor area and play structures are free from health and safety hazards. The outdoor area has a large yard with mud kitchen and structures with tree shade. There are a variety of toys available for the children. There are also sheds/bins and storage areas for the toys when they're not being used.
The director showed the area where part of their backyard eroded into the next door neighbor's yard and a tree fell onto the fence. According to Elizabeth, the fence is owned by the next door neighbor and they have not made any efforts to repair the fence. The facility has properly barricaded the surrounding area to prevent children from accessing the other side. There are also tables and vegetable gardens planted around the edge and perimeter of where the fence used to be. Per director, the next door home where the land eroded has been red tagged.
According to Elizabeth, the facility has done the water lead testing for the preschool license, the test revealed that there are no exceedances of 5 ppb limit of lead. The location of the sink is located in the kitchen. LPA has the LIC forms and results on file.
According to the director, the facility is using paper sign in/out sheets. Facility has license and all other required documents posted and visible for the public. Facility has an emergency drill log and last drill was conducted on June 29 2023. Per Elizabeth, drills are done at least last day of the month, rotating them between lock down/fire and earthquake drills.
The LPA reviewed the facility records. LPA did not review any children files because there were no children present during the visit. LPA reviewed 2 staff files with qualifying requirements such as ECE Units, CPR and Mandated Reporter Training. The facility has a set learning curriculum posted in the classroom.
The Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption or transfer their existing clearance or exemption prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center.
