25 | On November 4, 2022 at 9:00 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) April Cowan conducted an unannounced Annual Inspection and met with Licensee, Marlis Harris. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. Present in the facility is Licensee caring for 6 preschool age children. Licensee lives in a 2 bedroom, apartment. Facility was inspected and Day-care areas are: Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, Bedroom 2, and Bathroom 1. The rest of the home is off-limits. The days and hours of operation are Tuesday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Tuesdays and Thursdays are hiking days until 1:30 PM.
At 9:05 AM, LPA observed the following: Day-care area is clean, orderly, and equipped with age appropriate toys and equipment for the children. Home has sufficient lighting and ventilation. Home has a working telephone, a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and a fully charged fire extinguisher. Fireplace in Living room is finished with panel and is not able to be used as a fire place. There are no cleaning products accessible to day-care children. Licensee states there are no guns or weapons of any kind in the home. Licensee conducted last emergency drill on 10/12/22 and is properly logged. Discipline policy is mainly redirection. During inspection, Emergency Evacuations were discussed. Facility files were discussed. LPA also discussed the use of Guardian to manage associations.
At 9:51 AM, LPA reviewed facility files. Children's files are complete with all required Licensing documents. Licensee has all required postings posted for parents to review.
