25 | On February 28,2020, at 1:00 pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Van met with the lead teacher, Natalia Kaplan, for an unannounced annual random inspection. The purpose of the inspection was explained and was granted entry to the facility by the staff. The facility is a preschool program and operating in the Congregation B’nai Emunah Church. Present today are 2 teachers, and 2 helpers supervising 18 children; The Director is off today. Staff to children ratio are met. Days and hours of operations are from Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:50 PM. There are five classrooms; a common area room, the PE room, the playroom, and the activities room, and Napping room. The facility has three bathrooms with a total of 3 toilets and 3 sinks, and all toilets and sinks are clean and well sanitized.
LPA along with the lead teacher inspected the daycare areas for health and safety hazards. The following were observed during the inspection. The facility has a sign-in / out record with full legal signatures from the parent or authorized representative. There are variety of age-appropriate toys and learning materials for children are available; the center is in good repair, free of any hazards, and has proper temperature and ventilation. The classroom is set up for childcare; furniture, equipment, sufficient amount of sleeping mats for children are available. All children's chairs and tables have rounded corners. LPA observed no pools, spas, or other bodies of water at the facility. The facility has a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector fully charged fire extinguisher and a working telephone at the site. All cleaning solutions, poisons, and other chemicals that are dangerous stored inaccessible to children. The outdoor playground area is in good repair. Play structures are free of any loose parts. The facility has posted the required forms (i.e., License, menus, waivers, Notification of Parent's Rights, Notification of Personal Rights, Car Seat Law, and Emergency Disaster Plan).
Per the lead teacher, there are no firearms, weapons, or pets at the center; the center provides two snacks, breakfast and lunch for children. The food preparation area is clean, organize, and foods store appropriately. Water bottles are provided to the children by the center and water filter pitchers are used to refill the bottles. The lead teacher stated that Fire and Earthquake drills are done quarterly. The last fire drill was completed on 12/04/19. |
