25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with two helpers who had fingerprint clearance, but the licensee was not at home upon LPA's arrival. One of the helpers put LPA on the phone with the licensee in the beginning of the inspection, Per licensee, she was on her way to the clinic to pick up her daughter; she would be back to the daycare soon. The licensee came back home around 2 PM during the inspection. There were 6 children including 2 infants with the helpers present. LPA observed 4 children were napping and 2 infants were awake staying in another room that next to the food preparation area. The licensee owned the 2 stories single family house and lived with her children. Per licensee, her old child studied in another city,so her child comes home for visiting a couple of times during a year. The facility was called " JAMAJAZ DAYCARE AND PRESCHOOL" and the operation hours were Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 6 PM. The daycare areas were the entire lower level including the entry room, main large play room, small room with an adjacent bathroom for the children, food preparation area and backyard. The off-limit areas were the entire upper level, garage and storage room next to the entry on the lower level. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility was clean and in-order. The temperature and lighting were adequate. The licensee made the toxins and harmful objects inaccessible to the daycare children. There were plenty of the age-appropriate toys, books, learning material, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repair. There were a fully charged 2A10BC Fire extinguisher, working cellular phone, and first aid supplies available in the daycare area. LPA did not test the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors due to children were napping during the inspection. The licensee installed carpet to the daycare floor as the soft cushioning to prevent injury. All electrical outlets were covered. Gate was installed at the stairway to the upper level. The lower drawer and cabinets at the food preparation area were either latched or free of harmful objects. The children's bathroom was clean, and the lower bathroom sink cabinet was free of harmful objects. Play pens and mats were used for napping. The facility provided breakfast, lunch, and AM/PM snacks to the children. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced. The licensee installed the Turf to the entire ground as the soft cushioning. There was a slide and water table, ride-on toys, and other outdoor toys available for the children to play. The facility also had some children's furniture available for the children in the entry room. LPA reviewed the staff and children's file during the inspection. Per licensee, there was no guns, weapons, and pets in the house. The facility posted all the required postings. The licensee and her helpers had current CPR/First Aid training, it will expire in 6/2025 and Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training, it will expire in 5/2025 & 6/2025. The disaster drill has been conducted quarterly, it was conducted in 4/2023.
