LPA reminded the director to ensure that all electrical cords are covered or use protectors to prevent children from tugging or pulling on them. Additionally, this will prevent tripping hazards. The director will install covers or protectors. Once installed, a picture of the completed installation will be sent to LPA.
All children's toilets and handwashing sinks are in good working condition and have proper sanitation. There is a separate bathroom for staff use on the premises. LPAs observed no bodies of water on the premises.
The facility currently holds an outdoor waiver from the Department, which allows a maximum of 30 children in the playground at one time, and a rotational schedule is required. The outdoor play area is maintained clean and free of debris. The outdoor play area is completely fenced, clean, and well-maintained. The play structure has soft cushions underneath it to minimize the risk of serious injuries in the event of accidental falls. LPAs reminded the director that the sandbox area is to be checked daily before the children play in it.
The director stated that the center provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Children bring their water bottles from home, and the center has water pitchers available for refilling indoors and outdoors. All waste containers within the center have proper, tight-fitting covers.
All the required postings were observed, including the facility License, Notification of Parent Rights, Personal Rights, Car Seat Law, Emergency Disaster Plan, waiver, and Daily activities.
Random children's records and personnel records were reviewed during the inspection. The review of records revealed that the facility maintains complete records for each child, including immunization records, admission agreements, emergency contact information, and personal rights. Staff records indicate that all staff members or individuals requiring caregiver background checks have received criminal records and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. Multiple staff members hold valid CPR certifications and have up-to-date mandated reporter training.
