25 | On January 25, 2023 at approximately 8:15am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Catrina Quimbo conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPA met with director, Angelina Flores, and explained the purpose of the inspection.
At start of LPA's arrival was drop off and signing in period for enrolled children. Facility is a multi-level building that includes 4 classrooms that are currently in use: Joeys, Wallabies, Koalas, and Kangaroos. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm.
At approximately 8:30am licensee, Natella Shtern, arrived to facility. Present during LPA's visit included licensee, director, 5 staff members and 35 enrolled children. Facility is operating within capacity limits and ratio during LPA's visit.
LPA inspected entire facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards. Children ages 3 years to 5 years attend classrooms on the second floor of the building while children ages 2 years to 3 years attend program on the first floor of the building. Second and first level of the building have separate entrances for enrolled children. Each level of facility also includes additional rooms that are utilized for art classes or staff purposes. Facility includes a staircase that are made inaccessible with child safety gates.
All classrooms have proper temperature and ventilation. LPA observed each classroom to be equipped with age appropriate toys and materials. Storage for children's belongings are located either inside or outside the classrooms, labeled with each child's individual names. Mats are utilized for napping children, which are appropriately stored and maintained. LPA observed each classroom to have garbage cans with tight fitting lids. Facility is equipped with multiple, working carbon monoxide detectors and fully stocked first aid kits.
First and second level of facility include multiple bathrooms that children have access to. LPA observed bathrooms to be in proper working condition with appropriate sanitation products. LPA observed cleaning products, poisons and hazardous materials to be made inaccessible in high shelves and/or behind child safety locked cabinets.
