Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the Site Director, Myrna Murillo, and explained the purpose of the inspection to her. There were 0 children present. Per the Site Director, the school-age children arrived at the facility at 2 PM on Wednesday, and 3 PM on Mon-Tue & Thursday - Friday. All adults had fingerprint clearance. The facility was a combination center with Preschool and School-Age Programs in a Family Community Center. The facility was located on the ground level and the Strong Family Community Center was on the upper level as the off-limit area for the daycare children. There was a separate entrance to the Strong Family Community Center outside of the building. The main entrance to the building was gated. The School-age program was run in classroom #2. Classroom # 2 was shared with a Preschool program by schedule. The facility's operation hours were Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 1:30 PM in classroom #2 and from 7 AM to 6 PM in classroom #1. The outdoor playground was shared with the Preschool & School-age program by schedule. A Waiver of Outdoor Playground usage was granted by Child Care Licensing when it was licensed. The facility had a central kitchen providing meals to all CCFC's DayCare Centers daily. A kitchen was located next to Classroom #1 on the ground level. LPA toured and inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. All classrooms were clean and in order. The temperature and lighting were adequate. Toxins and harmful was made inaccessible to the children. Classroom #2 had an adjacent 3 toilets that included a stall within the bathroom area, 1 big sink with 2 faucets, and 2 sinks. Children's toilets and sinks were appropriate in size and height for children. There was a separate staff bathroom available for staff next to the kitchen. Classroom #2 was clean, safe, and set up with age-appropriate toys, learning materials & equipment, books, sand & water tables, a small greenhouse, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repair. Cubbies with children's names were available for children to store their belongings by the entrance of each classroom. All electrical outlets were covered. All the lower sink cabinets and drawers were either latched or free of harmful objects. The facility had at least a working carbon monoxide detector. The medication box and first aid supplies were kept in the upper cabinet in each classroom. The facility usually provided PM snacks to the children daily, but the facility also provided breakfast, lunch, and AM/PM snacks from the central kitchen on-site to the children base on the children's schedule. LPA inspected the kitchen and food storage area during the inspection. The kitchen and storage areas were clean and in order. The facility had a food wastebasket with a tide lid in the kitchen. The weekly menu was posted in the classrooms. Cots were used for Napping. Sick children will be separated from the group and placed in the office while waiting for their parents to pick them up. The facility had an adjacent outdoor play area that was accessed from classroom #1. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced. Tap water was served in the filter water pitcher with cups in each classroom and outdoor play area. Rubberized cushioning has been installed on the entire play area to prevent injury. There were some age-appropriate outdoor toys, a sandbox, ride-on toys, a slide structure, water tables, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repair available for children. All staff had current CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter Training. The facility has conducted the Disaster drill monthly and logged properly. The facility had no guns or weapons. There were no children on special medication under the School-age program. All required postings were posted in each classroom. LPA reviewed the sign-in/out sheets during the inspection. LPA also reviewed the children and staff files and obtained a copy of the current children's ros
ter from the facility during the inspection.
