Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced required inspection today. LPA met with the Site Director, Mary Chan and Assistant Site Director, Gabrielle Touche Contreras. The purpose of the inspection was explained to them. There were 24 children with 3 staff and 2 directors present. The facility runs the preschool program in a big classroom with an adjacent children bathroom. The operation hours of the facility are Monday to Friday from 7:30AM to 6:00PM. The facility uses electronic sign in/out system. Every single parents was assigned an individual code. LPA toured and inspected the facility for health and safety hazard around 11:35pm, The facility was clean and in order. Temperature and lighting were adequate. All toxins and harmful objects were either locked or made inaccessible to the children. There were plenty of the age-appropriate toys, books, learning material, art and craft material, sand tables, and children's furniture. First Aid supplies are available in the classroom. Sick children will be separated from the group and place in the office with a staff while waiting for their parents to pick up. Facility has its own back play area at the property. All electrical outlet were covered. Right amount of cubbies were available for the children to store their own belonging by the main entrance. Barricade was installed at the main entrance and office entrance to prevent children access to the off-limit areas. Children bathroom was clean. It has 2 children size toilets and 2 sinks available for children. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced in the back of the facility. All sharp corners were covered. Gate was installed at the stairway. There were some of the outdoor toys, play house, water table, and children's furniture available for the children. Soft cushioning was installed to part of the playground to prevent injury. Facility provides AM/FM snacks to the children only. Children bring their own lunches. Per Site Director, there were no guns, no weapons, and no pets in the facility. Per Site Director, there were couple children on special medication. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services - IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children's, personnel, and administrative record. At least one staff had current CPR:/First Aid training for review during the inspection. All the required postings were posted. All staff have completed the Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training (AB1207). The certificates were reviewed during the inspection. Children files were reviewed during the inspection.
