Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection. LPA met with the licensee, Au Lai Yee, and 2 helpers. All adults had fingerprint clearance. The purpose of the inspection was explained to her. There were 8 children that included 3 infants with 2 helpers and a licensee present. The facility was called " Kwan's Family Child Care". The operations hours were Monday to Friday from 7:30AM to 6:30PM. Licensee owned this single story family house. Licensee lived in the house with her husband, and her younger son. The house had 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, living room, dining room adjacent to kitchen., backyard, and garage. The day care areas were the Living room, bathroom next to the living room, (kitchen is used as a pathway to the backyard only. Children cannot stay in the kitchen area) and backyard. The off-limit areas are: backyard, bathroom between bedroom #1 & #2, kitchen, bedroom #1 and #2 and garage. Per licensee's request, kitchen and bedroom #1 & #2 have been removed from the daycare area during the inspection. LPA inspect the house for health and safety hazards. The house was clean and in order. The temperature and lighting are adequate. All toxins and harmful objects are either locked or made inaccessible to day care children. There were plenty of the age-appropriate toys, books, learning material, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repaired. There were a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, working 2 in 1 smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and first aid supplies available in the daycare. Licensee installed a gate at the entrance of the kitchen area. Licensee installed the carpet to the entire floor as the soft cushioning in the daycare areas. All the electrical outlets had a child proof built-in blockage. All sharp corners were covered. The children's bathroom was clean. All the toxins and harmful objects were made inaccessible to the children. The lower bathroom sink cabinet and drawers were latched. The licensee has conducted monthly and logged. The backyard was completed fenced and clean. There were some outdoor toys, and ride-on-toys available for the children. The licensee has provided breakfast, AM/PM snacks, lunch and dinner. Cribs, play pen, and cots were available for napping. Booster and high chair were available for feeding only. Per licensee, there were no children on special medication. There were no guns, no weapons, and no pets in the facility. Licensee and helpers had current CPR/First Aid training and Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training. LPA reviewed the 15 min nap check log during the inspection. The licensee subscribed a day care insurance that will expire in 6/2023. All the required postings were posted. LPA reviewed children and staff files. LPA also obtained a copy of the current children's roster during the inspection.
