LPA observed that the daycare areas had age-appropriate toys, furniture, and educational materials. A designated area was provided for permanent or portable storage of the children's clothing and personal belongings. Electrical outlets were fitted with tamper-proof covers to prevent children's access. A child safety gate was observed at the stairs, which leads to the upper level. According to the licensee, there are no firearms or weapons on the property.
The backyard is surrounded by a fence and features a variety of outdoor play equipment, all of which are in excellent condition. The areas around and under high climbing equipment, swings, slides, and similar equipment were observed to be cushioned with rubberized mats. LPA observed a fish tank in the home and found it to be covered. LPA did not observe any other pools, spas, or bodies of water on the property.
The licensee currently provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks for the children in their care. According to the licensee, none of the enrolled children have a documented allergy.
The facility offers different options for children to rest or nap, including playpens, cribs, and cots. LPA observed that sheets and blankets were available for the children. Infant mattresses are firm and equipped with appropriately sized sheets. All cribs are well-maintained and free of loose items that could pose safety risks.
LPA reviewed the files of seven children and verified that four children’s emergency contact and medical information were complete. The three other children were missing their immunization records. LPA also reviewed the three children’s 15-minute sleep records, which are required for children under the age of two, and found that they were documented.
LPA reviewed the four staff files and confirmed that all required forms were present. LPA found that the licensee has an expired Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification, which expired in November 2024. LPA found that one staff member has a current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification, which will expire in May 2025. The facility is only required to have a least one staff member on-site with a current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certification. LPA found one staff member did not complete their Mandated Reporter Training (AB 1207).
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
