Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Yee conducted an Unannounced Required - 1 Year inspection to this family child care home and met with the Licensee Lan Lan Lei, her two helpers, and 8 children. The purpose of the visit was explained. The facility personnel summary report was reviewed with Lan Lan and she said it is current. The resident at this facility are Lan Lan, her husband, and their two children ages 13, and 10 years old. The facility operation hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Daycare areas are living room, dining room, kitchen, and half bathroom near the kitchen, deck and backyard. . The remaining areas of the home are off-limits. Licensee’s CPR and 1st aid certificate is current and will expire on 11/07/2023.

LPA observed the home is clean orderly and properly ventilated. LPA also observed a 2A10BC Fire extinguisher, operable smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide. There are no bodies of water in the home. Electrical outlets have child protective covers in place making them inaccessible to children. Chemicals, detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, and other items of this nature are made inaccessible to children. Kitchen/Bathroom cabinets/drawers have child protective locks in place making all sharp objects or toxic household items inaccessible to children. First aid supplies are available for children. The facility conducts fire drills/earthquake drills and was properly logged (11/08/2022, 09/09/2022). The disciplinary policy was discussed with Licensee today. The home has age-appropriate toys and equipment available for the children in care.

LPA reviewed the children's roster and staff records during the visit. Staff records are in order.

LPA discussed Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training AB1207 with Licensee. As of January 1, 2018, all staff will be required to complete Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training every two years. The training can be obtained online at www.mandatedreporterca.com. The licensee completed AB1207 on 01/14/2021. Helper #1 completed on 04/14/2022, helper #2 completed on 02/10/2022.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services - IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children's, personnel, and administrative records. LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with the licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. The infant LIC 9227 is on file. The infant sleep chart is on file. A sample of an infant sleep chart was provided.
