Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the Site Director, Margaret Thrupp. The purpose of the inspection was explained to her. The facility runs a parent Co-op preschool program in a multi-functional clubhouse that is located at Helen Wills Playground. The property is owned by the San Francisco Recreation and Park. The program runs in Room A (Younger class) and B (Older Class) in the Multi-Functional Clubhouse, and the Volleyball court that is next to the clubhouse. The operation hours of the program are Monday to Friday from 8:45am to 12:45pm. There is a public area with public bathrooms between 2 rooms. Per Site Director, the children always play at the play structure and sand areas at the same park as the field trip. LPA toured and inspection the facility for health and safety hazard. The facility was clean and in order. Temperature and lighting were adequate. All toxins and harmful objects were either locked or made inaccessible to the children. There were plenty of the age-appropriate toys, books, learning material, crafty material and children furniture available for children. There was a sand table available for children in Classroom B. All equipment are in the good condition and repair. Soft cushioning was installed to the floor in each classroom to prevent injury. Right amount of cubbies available for the children to store own belongings in each classroom. All electrical outlets were covered or had built in blockage to prevent children access to the outlets. Children bathroom is located in Classroom A (Younger class). The bathroom was clean. LPA didn't observe any harmful objects in it. There were 2 toilets and 1 sink in the bathroom. There was another sink available for the children in the classroom as well. Gross motor toys were available for the children. Children bring their own lunches to the facility daily. Facility provides snacks to the children only. Outdoor play yard was clean. It's completely fenced. Facility had no guns, no weapons, and no pets in the building. The site director had current CPR/First Aid training available, It will expire in August 2021. The fire drill is done 2 times a year. The latest drill was done in May 2019. Per Margaret, there were no children on special medication. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed.
