Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok, conducted an unannounced increased inspection today. LPA met with the Site Director, Filippo Montalbano. The purpose of the inspection was explained to him. There were no children upon LPA arrival because the children went out for field trip. The children came back during the inspection. There were 42 children 8 staff present. All staff are fingerprinted. This is a Preschool center. The operation hours are Monday to Friday from 8AM to 6 PM. The preschool program is run in 2 big classrooms (upper and lower). LPA toured and inspected the facility for health and safety hazard. The facility was clean and in order. Temperature and lighting were adequate. All toxins and harmful objects were either locked and made inaccessible to the children. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials, art materials, and children’s furniture available for the children. Cots and mats were used for napping. Cubbies with children’s names were available for the children to store their own belongings. Children’s bathrooms were clean and free of harmful objects. Per Site Director, there was no guns, no weapons, and no pets in the center. Facility provides AM/PM snack and lunch to the daycare children. Facility has a central kitchen and deliver the food to the center daily. Lunch menu was available for review. The outdoor play yard was completely fenced. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, ride-on-toys, and children’s furniture available for the children. The fire drill has been conducted at least 2 times a year. The latest drill was conducted in 11/2019. Per Site director, there was a child on special medication. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services - IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children's, personnel, and administrative record. At least a staff had current CPR/First Aid training certificate available for review during the inspection, it will expire on 8/8/2020. 15 Children’s files were reviewed during the inspection. LPA also obtained a copy of the current roster from the licensee during the inspection. Most of the staff completed the Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training (AB1207). The certificates were reviewed during the inspection.
