25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the Site Director, Karine Leung, and explained the purpose of the inspection to her. LPA observed 17 children with 3 staff present upon LPA's arrival; All staff had fingerprint clearance. The operation hours of the faciity were Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Facility was a French Immersion Preschool that ran a preschool program in two classrooms (Front & Back) that were separated by a wall. Child Care Licensing granted a waiver for the usage of the outdoor play area by schedule when CCL licensed it. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards during the inspection. The facility was clean and in order; temperature and lighting were adequate. The toxins and harmful objects were made inaccessible to the children. The facility had plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repair available for the children indoors. The licensee installed a gate by the main entrance to prevent children from accessing the off-limit areas. All the electrical outlets were covered. The facility had 2 children's bathrooms with a total number of 2 toilets and 2 sinks adjacent in the back classroom. The children's bathrooms were clean and in order. The facility also had a separate staff bathroom next to the main office in the back of the building. All the food waste baskets and garbage cans with tide lids. The facility's outdoor play area was completely fenced and clean. It had plenty of age-appropriate toys, see-saw, ride-on toys, sandbox, slide play structures with soft cushioning underneath to prevent injury, and outdoor children's furniture was in good condition and repair. All children have brought their lunch & snacks and water bottles with their names to school daily. Drinking water was available for children in the facility. The facility has used cots and mats as the napping equipment, and stored properly. The facility also has stored the children's bedding in an individual bag with the child's name in the same area. The facility has conducted the emergency drill 2 times a year and logged it. Per Karine, there were no children on special medication. LPA reviewed the sign-in/out system called "Hi MaMa", children's and staff's files and obtained a copy of the children's roster during the annual inspection. The facility posted the daily activities schedule and all other required postings by the main entrance. At least one staff had current First Aid/CPR training.
