On October 22, 2021, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Winnie Ly met with Program Director Rebecca Cullinan for an announced prelicensing inspection for an increase in capacity. Present in the facility were Program Director and 4 staff caring for 17 preschool children. Facility has a current capacity of 15 children; the facility is requesting an increase to 26 children. This facility operates downstair and is requesting an increase for the space upstair.
On 10/22/2021, LPA measured the upstair of the facility is requesting to increase in capacity. Upstair indoor space measures at 597.4 square feet, allowing for 17 children. Upstair has one sink and 1 toilet which will translate to allowing 15 children. Facility has an outdoor waiver for 12 children. See previous measurement and waiver for current children during outdoor activities. The classroom is already furnished and is ready for care. Facility has sufficient toys and napping equipment for children capacity.
The toddler option children will have their own bathroom, toilet and sink. The proposed upstair indoor space can accommodate at least 11 children based on measurements taken on 10/22/21. Licensee understands that the age range for the toddler option is 18 months to 3 years old and that authorized representatives must give written permission for their child to participate in the toddler option component. Licensee understands that the children must be kept physically separate from the preschool age children. Facility has age appropriate toys for toddler group. Ratio and staffing for the toddler option was discussed. An approved Fire Clearance was granted for a total capacity of 26 children on 09/09/2021. Licensee understands that preschool and toddler option children cannot commingle in outdoor space at any time. Facility has an outdoor waiver of no more than 12 children may be in the outdoor play area at any one time. Facility has age appropriate structure and outdoor toys for toddler group. Director will need to submit a written scheduled usage of the outdoor play areas to request an outdoor waiver for both preschool and the toddler option to share outdoor space.
· An outdoor schedule is to be submitted with the request for waiver.
· Waiver approved by the Regional Manager for scheduled usage of the outdoor play areas.
LPA will recommend licensure of the preschool program to include a toddler option component with a total licensed capacity of 26 and of the 26 total children no more than 11 can be toddler option age in the upstair of the facility once outdoor waiver is approved.
