The Center has two toilets and three sinks for children. All toilets and hand washing facilities are in good operational condition and adequately sanitized, and all solid waste storage containers have tightly fitted lids. All cleaning materials and potentially hazardous objects are kept out of reach of children. The staff bathroom, lounge, and offices are located on the facility's second level which are separate from children. The outdoor play area is in good condition, sanitary and completely fenced for supervision. Outdoor play structures are appropriate for the age group, in great shape, and clear of loose components. Climbing structures are securely anchored, and all play structures have comfortable padding beneath them to absorb any accidental falls. The facility has several water pitchers available to children both indoors and outdoors.
The facility has an outdoor waiver approved by the Department that allows no more than 17 children combined in program at one time.LPA observed a water pipe was loosely put on the outdoors areas. LPA reminded the Director to move to the off-limits areas. LPA also observed that the outdoor back gate could be opened by adult without awareness of the staff. LPA reminded the Director to install a bell on the gate to let the staff aware of someone open the gate (Please refer to Technical Violation). LPAs reminded the Director should ensure the sand box is clean before use everyday. LPAs do not observe any no bodies of water on the property.
Per the Director, the Center serves only morning and afternoon snacks. LPAs also observed that the food preparation site is clean, organized, and inaccessible to children. All solid waste storage containers within the Center have an appropriate tight-fitting cover.
LPA reviews 2 personnel and 5 children's records at the facility. A sample of children's files was found to contain comprehensive information such as medical assessments, and signed admission agreements. The staff files were also well-organized and thorough, with proof of educational credentials, and Mandated Reporter Training Certificate (AB1207) valid until 5/24, except S#2 whose expired in 5/23 (Please refer to Technical Violation). Multiple staff members were observed to have valid CPR/First Aid cards (valid until 1/24) and vaccine proofs for Measles, Pertussis, and Influenza in their files. Additionally, the facility had posted the required documents, including the license, menus, waivers, Notification of Parental Rights, Notification of Personal Rights, Car Seat Law, and Emergency Disaster Plan.
Per the Director, the fire and earthquake drills are conducted monthly, with the most recent fire drill being held on 10/20/23. The isolation location for an unwell child is in the bathroom, and personnel will observe and supervise the child until parents are notified to come and pick up the child .(Continued on page 3..) |
