Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with the Site Director, JiaWen Wei. The purpose of the inspection was explained to her. There were 32 children including 29 preschoolers and 3 toddlers with 5 staff present. All adults had fingerprint clearances. The facility's operation hours were Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The facility was a combination center that had a Preschool program with a Toddler option. The facility had the main classroom area that was divided into 2 sections in the front portion of the center. The toddler classroom (Caterpillar) was on the right-hand side that was barricaded with a gate. The preschool classroom on the left side was divided into 2 sections by the shelves Butterfly and Ladybugs. The preschool program was run in a classroom by the hallway entrance that was called "Dragonfly". There was a gross motor room that was across from the children's bathroom in the back of the center. LPA toured the facility for health and safety hazards. The center was clean and in order. The temperature and lighting were adequate. There were the right amount of cubbies available for the children to store their belongings by the main entrance. There was plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning material, and children's furniture available in the classrooms for both programs. All the items were in good condition and repaired. The facility had installed a Surveillance camera system in the daycare areas to protect the children and staff. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, climbing structures, and ride-on toys available for the children. The licensee had installed the soft cushioning on the entire floor to prevent injury in the Gross motor room. The children's bathroom was clean and free of harmful objects. The children's bathroom had 7 toilets and 6 sinks available for the children. The facility has conducted the Earthquake and Fire drills 2 times a year and logged them. The facility had a waiver for designated time and space playground usage from SF Recreation Park to use Rossi Playground as an alternative playground, located 0.2 miles from the facility at 600 Arguello Boulevard in San Francisco. The facility did not have a designated outdoor play area. The facility had a designed staff bathroom next to the children's bathroom in the back of the center. The facility has provided AM/PM snacks, lunch, and dinner/early supper to the daycare children. LPA inspected the food preparation/kitchen area during the inspection. The facility has installed a gate at the entrance to the kitchen area to prevent children's access. Mats were used for napping. The bedding was provided by the children, but the facility has washed the bedding for the children daily. All electrical outlets were covered. Per Site Director, there were no children on special medication. All required postings were posted. The facility has used "Bright Wheel" as a major app for the daycare. The parents signed in/out on the Bright Wheel's apps for the children. LPA inspected the sign-in /out during the inspection. LPA also obtained a copy of the current children's roster. At least a staff had current CPR/First Aid training available for review during the inspection.
