25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced case management inspection for capacity increase. LPA met with the licensee, Li Xing Liu, and her helper. The purpose of the inspection was explained to her. There were 3 children with a helper present. Another child who was an infant dropping off during the inspection. The licensee applied for capacity increase on 2/28/2022.. She wants to move the daycare to the ground level with capacity increase. Child Care Licensing received the fire clearanece approval for the capacity increase request on 5/12/22. The licensee remodeled the ground level with a play area, dining area with open kitchen, 2 bathrooms (children and adult), backyard, and garage. The daycare areas will be entire lower level and backyard, except a garage. LPA inspected the entire lower level for health and safety hazards. Temperature and lighting were adequate. The areas were clean and in order. The licensee installed the soft cushioning to the entire floor in the play area to prevent injury. Gates were installed at the stairways to prevent children access to the off-limit areas. There were some age-appropriate toys, learning material, ride-on-toys, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repaired. Cubbies were available for the children to store their belonging available in the areas. All electrical outlets were the updated version with built-in child proof blockage to prevent children's access. The lower kitchen cabinets and drawers in the food preparation area were free of harmful and dangerous objects. The children's bathroom was clean and in order. The licensee installed the children's size toilet and sink in one of the bathrooms that was next to the kitchen area. Child proof knobs were installed to the side doors to prevent children access to the off-limit area. All sharp corners were covered. Gates were installed at the stairways indoor. A Fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, Working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and first aid supplies available in the daycare. The outdoor play area was completely fenced. There was a children's size sink available for the children. LPA suggested the licensee use the right side gate as a main entrance for the daycare. The licensee will notify CCL if she uses another entrance for her daycare in the future.
The following items have to be complete before licensure:
- Gates have to be installed at the stairway by the kitchen area and right side yard.
