25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Stacey Williams and Chris Jackson met with Director Nancy Cook for the purpose of an unannounced random annual inspection. LPAs toured the facility including all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service and outdoor play areas. Appropriate ratio and care and supervision were observed during today's inspection. Census included 34 preschool children supervised by nine staff members. Director was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations and capacity specified on the license. Facility hours of operation for summer session are Monday through Thursday from 7:30AM- 2PM, Friday from 7:30 AM- 11:30 AM.
LPAs observed that staff have a Criminal Record clearance and are associated to the facility license. Classrooms appeared clean including the carpets and floor. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. The areas around or under the climbing equipment are cushioned with bark to absorb a fall and there are trees providing shade. Uncontaminated drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. There are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises, and the facility has at least one functioning carbon monoxide detector. Trash cans containing solid waste had lids. Menus were posted for breakfast, lunch and AM snack. Required licensing documentation is posted in the front lobby area. LPAs observed sign in sheets in each classroom. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition and there are enough sinks and toilets for the children in care. All cleaning supplies were stored inaccessible to children in care.
A sample of staff and children's records were reviewed and all required documentation was observed. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification that expires on January 10th, 2020. LPAs observed a current children's roster and fire drill log with the last one conducted June 6, 2019.
