25 | On Thursday, January 20,2022, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvira Sierra met with Facility Representative, Nancy Cook for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Facility operates M-F from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.Upon arrival, LPA observed 39 children supervised by 11 staff members.
LPA conducted a health and safety inspection in all areas accessible to children and the following was observed; There are no poisons on the premises. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are age appropriate and in good repair. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. Outdoor play area is free from dangerous conditions and play equipment is safe and free from loose or sharp parts. The areas around or under the climbing equipment are cushioned with bark to absorb a fall and there are trees providing shade. Per Facility Representative there are no firearms on the premises and no bodies of water were observed. Facility has at least one functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detector. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition and there are enough sinks and toilets for the children in care. Program provides breakfast, morning snacks and lunch. Facility has drinking fountains and also use water pitcher to provide drinking water. Sign in/out sheet were reviewed.
4 children files were reviewed. Each child's file contained the required documentation by regulation. Files for the staff present at the facility were reviewed. Staff have a criminal record clearance, health screening report, immunization records, documentation of the educational background, training, and/or experience. LPA reviewed the Department's inspection authority and discussed with staff any changes that may occur regarding Director/Site Supervisor or an employee acting in the director's absence must be reported to department within 10 working days.
Facility representative was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
