25 | On 02/08/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvira Sierra met with Director, Laprice Brown for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Facility operates M-F from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Census include 36 children being supervised by 9 staff members. All staff members present today had criminal background record clearance on file with the Department.
LPA conducted a health and safety inspection in all areas accessible to children and the following was observed; There are no poisons on the premises. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are age appropriate and in good repair. The floors appeared clean throughout the facility. Outdoor play area is free from dangerous conditions and play equipment is safe and free from loose or sharp parts. The areas around or under the climbing equipment are cushioned with bark to absorb a fall. Per Director there are no firearms on the premises and no bodies of water were observed. Facility has at least one functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detector. Toileting facilities are in safe, sanitary, and operating condition. Program provides breakfast, morning snacks and lunch. Facility uses water dispensers and pitcher/cups to provide drinking water. Sign in/out sheet were reviewed and facility also uses electronic signing because it is a new system.
5 children files were reviewed. Each child's file contained the required documentation by regulation. 5 staff files were reviewed. At least one staff member present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Report continues on subsequent 809-C.
