25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Singh met with Director, Leeann Wilson, for an annual inspection. Purpose of the inspection was explained. Present, there are 34 children in care with seven teachers and the director. Facility is operating with in the capacity and in compliance with staff child ratio on this day. Facility operate day care from Monday to Friday between 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
With director, LPA inspected the Classrooms # 4, 5, 6 and Play yard. During the inspection, director requested the LPA to inspect the patio area next to the classroom # 4. Based on previous licensing reports, it was not clear if the area was inspected for use or not. During today’s inspection, LPA inspected the patio area and did not observe any hazard. There is high wall around the area and door, which leads to the Classroom # 4. LPA informed the facility that patio area can be used as play yard as of today. During inspection, LPA observed each classroom has sign in / out form with full legal signatures. Facility has smoke detector, fully charged fire extinguisher and working telephone at the site. LPA did not observe the carbon monoxide detector in the facility. All of the cleaning solutions, and other chemicals that are dangerous to the children are stored inaccessible to the children. Cabinets in the classrooms has child protective locks installed. LPA observed each classroom has first aid supplies available. Facility has age appropriate furniture. Furniture is steady and in good repair. All unused electric outlets has child protective covers installed. All toilets, hand washing facilities are in working condition with proper sanitation in place. All storage containers for solid waste and in good repair and have lids on top. Facility has drinking water available for children. Per director, children bring their own meals and facility prepare the meal before serving. Food preparation area is free of litter. All of the food is stored adequately to prevent any contamination. During the inspection, children were using the play yard. LPA observed the teachers were positioned at different areas of play yard and were providing the supervision. Play yard is free of hazards. All of the play structures are steady, in good repair and free of any loose parts. There are wood chips under the play structures to prevent any fall injuries. There is plenty of shaded area in play yard available for children to use.
