25 | On 3/20/23, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Corina Beckby met with both Licensee's, Jacqueline and Terry Thomas for an unannounced Annual inspection. Present in the home were Licensee's Jacqueline and Terry Thomas and 2 assistants supervising 14 children. (Ages: 1 yo, 2 yo, 2 yo, 2yo, 2 yo, 3 yo, 4 yo, 4yo, 4yo, & 5 school age kids) Day care hours of operation are Monday-Friday 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM. LPA verified annual fees are current.
Licensee's stated there are no new residents in the home which is a 2 story, 6 bedroom, 3 bathroom home. All adults living in the home have criminal background clearance. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas are: entire second floor, garage and laundry room. Off limit areas are being made inaccessible by closed/locked doors, gates and/or supervision. Licensee acknowledgesthat children may never enter these off-limit areas.
LPA observed hazardous items properly stored out of child reach. There were no hazardous items located in the bathroom. Medication is stored on the top cabinet above the refrigerator. LPA observed the required postings and a working phone, and a 3A40BC fire extinguisher meeting regulations. LPA observed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and verified they were both functional. LPA toured the kitchen area and verified knives were inaccessible to children in care.
