Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Chayntel Hunter and Christopher Jackson met with Site Supervisor of Room 51, Esther Jackson for the purpose of an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. Facility is licensed to serve children in classrooms 51, 52 and 56. LPAs toured the classrooms inside and out. LPAs observed that hazardous items (disinfectants, cleaning solutions etc.) were inaccessible to children in care.

Room 51 operates M-F from 8 AM to 11 AM and from 12:30 PM to 3 PM. Facility provides AM and PM snack. Classroom has 14 preschoolers supervised by 2 staff.

Room 52 operates M-F from 8 AM to 11 AM and from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Facility provides AM and PM snack. Classroom has 18 preschoolers supervised by 3 staff.

Room 56 operates M-F from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Facility provides breakfast, lunch and a PM snack. Classroom has 10 preschoolers supervised by 2 staff.

During today's inspection, LPAs observed staff role modeling appropriate classroom behaviors and interacting with children using appropriate tones and communication tactics. LPAs reviewed staffing ratios, first aid supplies, furniture, napping equipment for Room 56, fire drills and drinking water. LPAs observed all required forms to be posted in all classrooms. There are adequate toys and equipment available for children in all classrooms. Outdoor play area was toured, the play structure appeared to be in good repair, and there is sufficient cushioning (wood chips) under the play structure.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. Classrooms 51 and 52 are not currently providing IMS services to children in care. Room 56 provides Incidental Medical Services (IMS). LPAs reviewed storage of medications and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s personnel, and administrative records.

When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. This facility evaluation report was reviewed and discussed with the Site Supervisor. An exit interview was conducted. A Notice of Site Visit was provided and should remain posted for a period of 30 days for parental review. The Site Supervisor was encouraged to visit the Department's website at WWW.CCLD.CA.GOV for information regarding child care updates, forms, regulations and legislation pertaining to child care centers.

In the areas that were evaluated, no deficiencies were cited during the inspection.
