25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Christopher Jackson met with licensee Diana Zamora for an unannounced random annual inspection and toured areas of the home accessible to children in care. Off-limit areas include garage only. Licensee acknowledged that children may never enter these off-limit areas. The census included seven children ages 9 months, 1.2, 2.7, 2, 3.2, 3.7, and 4.3. The Licensee stated there are no new residents in the home since licensure. All Adult residents have criminal record clearances. Upon arrival to the home the only adult present was licensee’s assistant. LPA observed seven children in care. The seventh child must be enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten or above. After a file review of children in care, this requirement was not met.
LPA observed current CPR/First Aid certificates which expire on 05/19/20. LPA discussed recent changes in licensing requirements, including the posting of licensing inspection notices and reports and Parent Notification Requirements. LPA reviewed seven children’s files during today's inspection. LPA observed fire drills were conducted at least once every six months and documented.
LPA observed hazardous items accessible to children in the back yard. LPA observed Fireplace which was barricaded. LPA observed that cleaning materials were inaccessible. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. Fire extinguisher, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector meet regulation. Toys appear to be safe. The backyard is fenced and gated. There are no bodies of water observed.
LPA provided the Community Care Licensing website www.ccld.ca.gov, so the licensee can obtain updated licensing information, new regulations and access forms. LPA advised licensee of their responsibility to stay current in regards to new regulations. During today's inspection LPA provided copies of proposed sleep regulations and pamphlet regarding lead exposure. LPA also encouraged licensee to sign up for the child care advocates program.
