25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mariya Melnichuk met with Licensee, Jacqueline Bickharm for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. LPA verified the annual fees are current. There was one child present at the time of inspection. Licensee's operating hours 24 hours a day Monday through Friday.
All adults subject to criminal background review have obtained criminal record clearance. Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
A health and safety inspection was conducted in all areas accessible to children. Off-limits areas include the laundry room, the garage, and the upstairs.LPA observed the required postings and a working phone. 3A40BC fire extinguisher meets regulations. LPA observed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and verified they were both functional. LPA toured the kitchen area and verified knives were inaccessible to children in care. LPA observed play room area with age appropriate toys for children. LPA observed a restroom and verified that hazardous and toxic items were inaccessible to children in care. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. The side yard is fenced where children's outdoor play area is set up. Licensee was notified that prior to use of any off limits area, the department must be notified. The backyard has an in-ground pool area that is fenced per Title 22 regulations and LPA observed the gate to self-close and self-latch. There are no windows or doors that provide direct access into the pool area.
