On 04/13/23. Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvira Sierra met with Director, Elizabeth Herrera for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Director was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license. Facility is a preschool program with a toddler and school age component option. Facility hours of operation are; M-F 06:00 am to 06:00 pm. Upon arrival LPA observed 30 napping preschool children and 8 napping children under the toddler option program.

LPA inspected all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service, and outdoor area. Age appropriate toy and reading material were observed. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Playground equipment and surfaces are free of loose or sharp parts. Facility provide meal that are prepared at the facility. Facility has a fire extinguisher that meets the minimum requirements, operating smoke and a carbon monoxide detectors. Menus were posted and drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. Emergency supplies are available and maintained. First Aid Kit is properly maintained and kept inaccessible to children. Classrooms have appropriate postings. Emergency Drills are conducted monthly and are properly logged. LPA reviewed 5 children's and 5 Staff files and are complete and all immunization are up to date.

Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual – Regulations and Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA discussed the Safe Sleep Regulations and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep Webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/childcare-licensing/public-information-and-resources/saf-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended to register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchase equipment.
