25 | On November 2nd, 2023, at 9:00 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), David Nguyen met with Site Supervisor, Sizuka Renee Ikerdeu for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. The purpose of the unannounced annual inspection was explained. LPA was granted for entrance by Site Supervisor. Facility days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The Wysteria—SUSD Head Start opens from August to May every year. There were ten (10) children present during today's inspection. Meals—breakfast and lunch were provided to children in care. Meals were brought and provided by the Stockton Unified School District. Water from drinking fountain was provided for drinking water during outdoor playtime. LPA verified license annual fees are current.
LPA toured the facility inside and out. LPA observed that hazardous items (disinfectants, cleaning solutions etc.) were inaccessible to children in care. LPA reviewed staffing ratios, first aid supplies, furniture, fire drills, and drinking water. Site Supervisor stated that childcare teachers used water pitcher with filter and disposable cups for drinking water during indoor playtime. LPA observed all required forms to be posted. LPA observed functioning carbon monoxide and smoke alarms. There are adequate toys and equipment available for children. Outdoor play area was toured, the play structure appeared to be in good repair, and there is sufficient cushioning (cushioned turf) under the play structure. Outdoor play area was toured. LPA observed no bodies of water on the playground. LPA reviewed the sign in/out sheets on the clipboards and observed that the children are properly signed in.
LPA reviewed children’s and staff files. All staff present during today's inspection have a fingerprint clearance. Site Supervisor was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
