25 | Application Specialist (AS) Alecia Sifuentes and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Bettina Engelman met with Applicant, Jennifer Johnson for the purpose of a site visit to pre-measure the classrooms, outdoor playground, and potential indoor playground. Applicant is requesting a preschool license to serve 105 preschool children from age three to entry into kindergarten. The program will operate Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. AS has not received a granted fire clearance for the facility.
AS and LPM observed the children and staff restrooms. LPM informed the Applicant that the children's restrooms must be separate from the staff and gymnastics business. Applicant stated the facility plans to install a total of 7 toilets and 7 sinks.
AS was unable to measure the outdoor area due to no outdoor playground being present on the property. Applicant stated they have been approved by the city to build an outdoor area. AS and LPM observed that the potential outdoor area will be located on the right side of the building which is currently being used as additional parking. Applicant stated they will be installing curbing, seven foot tall fencing, and two evacuation doors. Applicant stated they hope to start construction soon.
AS measured three classrooms. Classroom #1 contains a total of 924.33 square feet, which will accommodate 26 preschool children. Classroom #2 contains a total of 1,068.15 square feet, which will accommodate 30 preschool children. AS observed a gate in Classroom #3. Applicant stated the gate will be used to section off the classroom in order to create a walkway for families and staff to use. Applicant is unsure of whether they would like to keep the gate or remove it in order to have more classroom space.
