25 | On 11/20/24, at 11:40 AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Shane Loftus and Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Annual Random Inspection the above-mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPAs met with Ashley Shoals, Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPAs, in the company of Director, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC operates from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday. The infant program uses four classrooms for child care. LPAs observed twenty eight children during the inspection, along with eleven teachers (cleared and associated) providing care and supervision. The facility is an infant/preschool combination center and the preschool maintains a separate license (#401702641).
The classrooms of the CCC are clean and organized. The classrooms have age-appropriate toys and furnishings available for children in care. The CCC has an operable carbon monoxide detector which was tested (12:30 PM). LPAs observed the bathrooms to be in safe and sanitary operating condition. LPAs also observed changing tables in proximity of the sinks. LPAs observed refrigerators in the classrooms of the CCC. The refrigerators contained items for the children's consumption which were labeled and dated. LPAs notes the CCC provided snacks, breakfast, and lunches for children in care. Children in care have access to water inside the CCC and outdoors in the play areas.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5 years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). LPAs verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP.
Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, medications and sharps are stored on elevated shelves in classroom cabinets which are beyond the reach of children in care. Continued on 809-C
